How should you use anti-bacterial products correctly?

A question we get asked a lot is how should I use anti-bacterial products correctly?

Due to the global pandemic, there’s a lot of misinformation about anti-bacterial products from our social media platforms. Therefore, it is best to know your antibacterial product correctly.

We need to keep washing everything we touch and using antibacterial products on a regular basis. Hygiene should be our priority and instil this in our lifestyle permanently.

So, let’s clear things up.

To correctly clean a non-porous surface, like a counter-top, floor or wall:

1. We first need to do some cleaning before we use the anti-bacterial cleaning.
2. Grab some soap or detergent and scrub down the surface first, then flush with water.
3. Leave it to dry completely. Then take your anti-bacterial cleaner, always follow the instructions, and apply the product to the surface to kill off the bacteria.

What is Contact Time? This is the time it takes to kill bacteria. Most cleaners have a Contact Time of 5 minutes (leave anti-bacterial product on surface for 5 minutes before cleaning with water and or damp cloth) this is the typical industry standard, like BSI/ASTM/EU standards use.
